Meet Phillip

Phillip Smithwick is a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Consultant, Trainer and Speaker

Having started his first business at age 16, Phillip always considered himself a hard worker rather than an entrepreneur. Now, with over 35 years of experience across multiple industries, he has built and led successful businesses, developed high-performing teams, and mentored others in leadership and personal growth.

With over 25 years in the food industry and a culinary degree from the Dallas Art Institute, Phillip has worked in various roles, gaining expertise in menu development, process improvements, restaurant operations, customer service, hiring, and leadership training. His deep understanding of both the front and back of the house allows him to help restaurant owners and hospitality professionals optimize their businesses for long-term success.

In addition to his experience in the food industry, Phillip owned and operated a landscaping, lighting, and irrigation company for nearly 10 years. His knowledge in outdoor design, efficient irrigation systems, and landscape lighting positions him to provide consulting services in this industry as well, helping business owners improve operations and service quality.

Having no formal secondary education prior to age 30, Phillip learned the power of surrounding himself with mentors, coaches, and strong relationships to fuel his personal and professional growth. This commitment to learning and relationship-building has been foundational in his career, leading him to mentor others in leadership, business development, and personal transformation.

In addition to his professional journey, Phillip has spent 18 years coaching youth sports and over 20 years involved in men’s ministry and group leadership within the church. His passion for coaching extends beyond business, as he equips individuals and organizations with the tools they need to lead confidently in all areas of life.

As a Maxwell Certified Speaker, Coach, and Business Trainer, Phillip now focuses on:

  • Helping business owners identify key opportunities and growth challenges with actionable solutions

  • Equipping individuals of all ages to develop strong leadership skills

  • Inspiring individuals to embrace their true identity and purpose

Phillip lives just outside of Dallas, Texas, with his high school sweetheart and wife of 30 plus years. They have four adult daughters, and one son and a granddaughter. He enjoys culinary travel with his wife, Leslie, spending time with family, and mentoring the next generation of leaders. When he’s not working or busy being “Pops” to his granddaughter, you can find him boating with friends and family or enjoying the great outdoors.

I want to Inspire individuals to be “who” they were created to be for the purpose for which they were created.
